'Open Day At Erdington Court'
Saturday 14th June was the day for our first 'Bowls Open Day' Fortunately the sun shone and there was plenty of support and guidance from 30 Erdington Court members. During the day, 10am to 2pm, prospective bowlers of all ages and all capabilities arrived at the club, marvelling that they had never realised there was such a club in the area. 45 visitors had a roll up, with guidance from two club members on each rink and club coach Reg Hacker on hand. It was extremely pleasing to see two young visitors bowling so well, both boys subsequently joined the club along with several others. The ladies in the kitchen were kept busy making copious amounts of tea and biscuits, so in all a very successful day. A grand effort by everyone at Erdington Court Bowls Club. Well done.

'Message from Phil Bond'
Can I take this opportunity to sincerely thank all the members, children and friends who supported my last presentation on the plight of the Orangutans and the Rain Forest in Kalimantan, Borneo. Further to the presentation I can tell you that Lamandau area, including Camp Rasak (the reserve I was working/volunteering building a release centre), has now been officially recognised as a Wildlife Reserve, giving all the released Orangutans the protection they rightly deserve.
The generous donations made on the night realised £85.65 which I have sent to the 'Orangutan Foundation' to be used to support the work of the volunteers working over there. Should anyone require further information on the 'Foundation' and it's work, please contact me on: 01827-874566. Phil Bond.
Congratulations to our own Brian Dickinson who has been voted in as Warwickshire County Indoor Vice-President for the 2008/09 season. "Well done Brian"
